SPECIAL GUEST – Liv Ullmann hosts “Shame” (Sat. Oct. 1 @ 6:30pm)

SHAME
with special guest Liv Ullmann
SAT. OCT. 1 @ 6:30PM

NOTE: The above unofficial trailer (by fan Mike Guerena) features The Rolling Stones’ song “Gimme Shelter,” and was not used in the film or in its promotion. Bergman’s “Shame” and the song share a thematic and historical kinship. Both created at the end of the turbulent 1960s, they represent the horror that can occur from a sudden shift in the lives of people caught as victims of wars. The combination of the two offering a powerful visual and sonic combination of artists at the apex of both film and music.

tumblr_mrbwtublzi1r52he3o1_500Former musicians Jan Rosenberg (Max von Sydow) and his wife, Eva (Liv Ullmann), have left the city to avoid a civil war and now live on a rural island where they tend a farm. While the situation seems idyllic, the couple’s isolation begins to wear on their relationship, and eventually the armed conflict that they’ve tried to flee arrives on the quiet island in the form of soldiers. Try as they might, Jan and Eva ultimately can’t evade either the war or their own marital problems.
