MEET THE SCREENS
Here’s a look at all the ways we show movies. And rentals of our screens here at 21 Main Street are available, as are our mobile screens. Email us at CapeAnnCinema@gmail.com for more information.
- OUR ORIGINAL CINEMA ::: This one-of-a-kind, 100-seat, living-room-style cinema has become a Cape Ann fixture (est. 2007), with its impressive selection of independent and foreign films (and the occasional Hollywood favorite!) and its memorable series of special movie, music, and theatrical events.
- THE MAGIC LANTERN ::: With just 15 seats, this comfortable, semi-private community screening room features “smaller” movies not usually seen outside of Boston and New York, and premium projection and sound. It is named after Ingmar Bergman’s autobiography.
- HARBORWALK SUMMER CINEMA SCREEN ::: Every summer, we co-host a series of outdoor movies (on the I4-C2 lot between The Building Center and The Gloucester House). This 26′ wide inflatable screen seats over 1,000 people, though these fill up fast, so we recommend you arrive 2 hours before dusk and enjoy the music from co-presenter, radio station North Shore 104.9. Food from local vendors is available. These are “BYOC” events––bring your own chair (but leave the liquor at home).
- THE MOBILE KIT ::: We haul our collapsible 10.5′ x 14′ screen, portable projectors, and sound system to performance halls, community centers, and houses of worship all over New England to host movie nights, special film-related events, and silent movie shows with live musical accompaniment. Our favorite acts to work with are The Alloy Orchestra (“The Beatles of silent movie accompaniment), The Devil Music Ensemble (the first silent movie group we ever hosted), and organist extraordinaire Peter Krasinski. Peter will be playing a series of silent movies in 2017 on “Verna,” our recently-donated 1956 Hammond B3 organ!
